It is South Africa&#8217;s anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing law.<\/p>\n<h2>What FICA requires<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Accountable institutions \u2014 such as banks and other financial services \u2014 must identify and verify their customers.<\/li>\n<li>They must keep records and report suspicious or unusual transactions to the Financial Intelligence Centre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Customer due diligence<\/h2>\n<p>The process of identifying and verifying a customer is called <strong>customer due diligence (CDD)<\/strong>.
