The RICA Registration Process Step by Step

RICA registration follows a consistent flow, whether you do it in a store, through an app or with an agent.
Step 1 — Capture #
Your identity document and, where required, proof of address are captured. The system records your full name, ID or passport number, physical address, contact number and the SIM card number (ICCID).
Step 2 — Verify #
Your identity and address are verified against approved sources, including the Department of Home Affairs.
Step 3 — Confirm #
The registration is submitted to the approved platform and confirmation is received.
Step 4 — Activate #
Only after successful verification is the SIM activated and ready to use. You will normally receive an SMS confirming your SIM has been registered and activated.
Ways to register #
- Digital self-service (app or online) — usually the fastest option
- In store at an operator, MVNO or authorised dealer
- Assisted registration via customer support
