To complete RICA registration you need to prove who you are and, in many cases, where you live.
South African citizens #
- A valid South African ID — a green ID book or a smart ID card
- The document must be legible and belong to the person being registered
Foreign nationals #
- A valid passport
- A valid visa, permit or residency document, where applicable
Proof of address (where required) #
Some registration types and verification steps ask for a physical address, supported by a document no older than three months. Accepted examples include:
- Utility bill (water, electricity or rates)
- Bank statement
- Lease agreement
- Official letter from an employer or educational institution
Always check with your provider which documents they require for your specific situation.
