When to Search by ID and When to Search by Name

Where a search offers both ID-based and name-based options, use the stronger identifier where possible.
General rule of thumb #
- Use ID number when you need a more exact individual match.
- Use company registration number when you have it and want a more exact company result.
- Use name-based searching when a stronger identifier is not available or when you are looking for possible matches.
- Use full and accurate names where name-based searching is necessary.
Tip: Name-based searching can be useful, but it may also produce broader results that need closer review.
